Terms
Valid from 1 November 2026.
These terms apply to the use of Meridian Crowns, an online strategy game on yaletree.com, and to the subscriptions you can take out for it. Please read them carefully. By creating an account or ordering a subscription, you agree to them.
1. Who we are
Meridian Crowns is offered by YAIS BV, Eikblokstraat 32, 2100 Antwerpen, België, company number BE 1006.558.904 (hereafter "we"). You can reach us at info@yaletree.com. All legal details are on the Legal notice page.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. The help chat and taking out a subscription yourself are for those aged 18 or over. If you are under 18, you need the permission of a parent or guardian for a subscription.
- You provide a valid e-mail address and keep your password secret. What happens with your account happens under your responsibility, unless someone else uses it through no fault of your own.
- One account per person. Using several accounts to give yourself an advantage is not allowed.
- You can have your account deleted at any time by sending an e-mail to info@yaletree.com. Cancel any running subscription first.
3. The game
- The game is free to play. Everything in the game is fictional: currencies, goods, countries and possessions in the game have no value outside the game, are not the property of the player and cannot be exchanged, sold or transferred.
- The game is still in development (early access). Parts may change, and a world may have to start over. If something you pay for changes to your disadvantage in a way that is not minor, we will let you know at least 30 days in advance and you may end your subscription free of charge, with a refund for the period you no longer use.
- We do our best to keep the game available, but maintenance or outages can make the game temporarily unavailable.
4. Fair play and what is not allowed
Use the game as it is intended. It is not allowed to:
- deliberately exploit bugs in the game instead of reporting them, let the game play automatically, or overload or attack the server;
- use names or texts (for your leader, countries, currencies, companies or in proposals) that are offensive, hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit, misleading or unlawful, or that infringe the rights of others (such as trademarks or the name of an existing person);
- spread the personal data of others;
- use the help chat for anything other than questions and proposals about the game.
5. Player content and moderation
- Other players see your name as leader and the names you choose in the game. You remain responsible for what you enter yourself.
- If we see content that goes against these terms or the law, we may change or remove it, and in case of serious or repeated abuse temporarily suspend or close an account. We decide this ourselves, by hand; we do not use automated systems for this.
- If we take such a measure, we let you know by e-mail what we did, why, and which rule we base it on. If you disagree, reply to that e-mail: we will review it and answer within 14 days. You can also always go to court.
- If you see content in the game that you believe is unlawful, report it via Report content. We confirm your report and let you know what we did with it.
6. Your ideas and proposals
- Through Help and ideas you can send in ideas, improvements and bugs. You receive no payment for this, and we are not obliged to do anything with them.
- By sending in a proposal, you give us, free of charge, for an unlimited period, worldwide and non-exclusively, permission to use your proposal, adapt it, combine it with other ideas and incorporate it into the game, the website and the explanations that go with them, and to pass this permission on to successors of the game. You remain free to use your idea elsewhere as well.
- You only send in what is your own or what you are allowed to share.
- We do not mention your name with an idea we work out, unless you ask for it and we are able to.
7. AI in the game
- Help chat. The help chat is an AI (the language model Claude by Anthropic), not a human. The answers are generated automatically and may contain errors. What the chat says is not a promise from us: only these terms and what we write ourselves bind us. The chat never asks for your password or payment details; do not type personal data or sensitive information in the chat.
- AI images. With a subscription, the game creates images (views, portraits, maps, media) with an AI image model. They are made up, show no real people or places, and are marked as AI images. You may keep and share them for your own, non-commercial use, stating that they come from Meridian Crowns. This AI visualisation will follow later: as long as it is not switched on, the game does not create any images yet.
8. Subscriptions
- Offer. A subscription (Meridian Crowns – Statesman or Meridian Crowns – World Power) is optional and gives extras such as more countries, more overview and AI images, but never money, resources or power in the shared world. What each tier gives exactly is shown on the Pricing page at the time you order.
- Price. Statesman: €4 per month or €36 per year. World Power: €9 per month or €80 per year. Prices include VAT. You pay in advance for the whole period, via Stripe (see the privacy statement). You will find the invoice in the customer portal.
- Order. You order on the order page with the button "Order with obligation to pay" and then pay at Stripe. The contract is concluded as soon as the payment has succeeded. You receive a confirmation by e-mail, with these terms attached.
- Duration and renewal. A subscription runs for a month or a year and is then automatically renewed for the same period, until you cancel. For an annual subscription, we send you a reminder about a month before the renewal.
- Cancelling. You cancel whenever you want via "Manage subscription" on your account page, with one click in the customer portal; an e-mail to info@yaletree.com is also fine. You keep your tier until the end of the period you have already paid for, and no further payment follows. Once an annual subscription has been renewed automatically, you may always cancel it with a notice period of one month; what you paid for the time after that month, we refund.
- After cancelling. You continue playing on the free tier. Your game data is kept, but whatever goes beyond the limits of the free tier (such as extra countries) you can no longer continue playing until you subscribe again.
- Failed payment. If a renewal fails, Stripe tries again a few times and you receive an e-mail to update your payment details. If it still fails, you go back to the free tier.
- Price change. We announce a new price by e-mail at least 30 days in advance. It only applies from your next period, and until then you can cancel free of charge.
9. Right of withdrawal (cooling-off period of 14 days)
- As a consumer, you may withdraw from a subscription within 14 days of the order without giving any reason.
- When ordering, you expressly ask us to start the subscription immediately, so that you can use the extras straight away. If you then still withdraw within the 14 days, you only pay an amount in proportion to the days you were already able to use the subscription. We refund the rest.
- The easiest way to withdraw is with the button "Withdraw from the contract here" on your account page (withdraw). You immediately receive an acknowledgement of receipt by e-mail. A clear statement by e-mail to info@yaletree.com is also fine, for example using the model form below. It is enough that you send your statement before the period ends.
- We refund within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal, using the same means of payment you used, without extra costs. Your tier then goes back to free.
Model withdrawal form (only complete and return this form if you wish to withdraw from the contract):
To: YAIS BV, Eikblokstraat 32, 2100 Antwerpen, België, info@yaletree.com
I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract for the provision of the following service: subscription [tier] to Meridian Crowns
Ordered on: [date]
Name: [name]
E-mail address of the account: [e-mail address]
Date: [date]
(Signature only if this form is submitted on paper)
10. Legal guarantee and complaints
- For a paid subscription you have the legal guarantee on digital services: the subscription must work as described for its whole duration. If something you pay for does not work, report it to info@yaletree.com. We make sure it works again within a reasonable time; if that does not succeed, you receive a price reduction or you may end the subscription with a refund of the period that did not work.
- You can always send complaints to info@yaletree.com. We answer within 14 days.
11. Liability
We are not liable for loss of game data, for fictional losses in the game, or for damage caused by a temporary interruption, except where this results from our intent or gross negligence, or where the law does not allow a limitation. Our liability for a subscription is limited to what you paid for that subscription in the last 12 months. This never limits your rights as a consumer under the legal guarantee or your right of withdrawal, nor our liability for death or personal injury.
12. If we stop or close your account
- If we stop the game, we announce this at least 30 days in advance and refund the part of a running subscription that you can no longer use.
- If we close your account because of a serious or repeated breach of these terms, we do so as described in point 5. There is then no refund of the current period, unless the law requires it.
13. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms, for example because the game or the law changes. We announce important changes by e-mail at least 30 days in advance. If you do not agree, you can cancel free of charge before the new terms take effect; we then refund the part of a running subscription that falls after that date.
14. Applicable law and disputes
These terms are governed by Belgian law. If you live as a consumer in another country of the European Union, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of that country. If we cannot resolve a dispute together, you can turn to the Consumer Ombudsman Service (consumentenombudsdienst.be) or to the competent court.
15. Languages
These terms exist in Dutch and in English. Both versions have the same content. In case of a difference, the version in the language in which you accepted them applies.
